Biography:

Glóin is a Dwarf of Durin's folk from J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. He first appears in *The Hobbit* as one of the twelve Dwarves who accompany Thorin Oakenshield on the quest to reclaim Erebor from the dragon Smaug.

Glóin is known for his practicality and a certain amount of grumbling, but he is also a loyal and steadfast companion. He is the father of Gimli, who later becomes a member of the Fellowship of the Ring.

Following the successful quest to reclaim Erebor, Glóin becomes a prosperous member of the Dwarf community. He is later sent to Rivendell, along with his son Gimli, to seek counsel from Elrond concerning the disturbances in Middle-earth and the growing threat of Mordor.
